Grand Cru or Les seconds Crus, is the class that 1855 was placed in the class below the Premier Crus. Les seconds can easily be associated with something that is inferior, and therefore the most castles choose in this class to use the term Grand Cru instead of Les seconds Crus |
Variations in the quality of this class is now quite large, and there is this one, or two castle who really should be moved up to Premier Crus, but that has not happened, and this will probably not happen the next few years. |
The classification was implemented 1855, and much has happened since then, but a new classification has not been able to implement. What has happened is that Château Doisy now is divided into three units and Château Lamothe in two. Château Pexoto is divided, and the area is now included in other units. |
