Château Lamothe story begins in 700 century, when the castle was a military fortress. During the 1800's the owner of the castle was family Baptiste, who received the classified as Les seconds Crus 1855. At the end of 1800's the family sold a larger part of the vineyard to Charles Joseph Bergey, which then gives this part of the property a new name: Château Lamothe-Bergey. |
Château Lamothe was divided into two parts, which received the names Château Lamothe and Château Lamothe-Bergey. Today, Château Lamothe has been named Château Lamothe-Despujols and Château Lamothe-Bergey changed its name to Château Lamothe-Guignard. |
