Château Doisy-Daëne.

Chateau Doisy-Daëne is one of the three vineyards, which arose from the breakdown of the Chateau Doisy.

Chateau Doisy classified as Les seconds Crus 1855, but it is unclear whether the division already that time was accomplished.

Probably the property was a part of Château Coutet until the French Revolution in the late 1700's. At some point during the 1800's the property was divided up into three parts. The majority remained in Védrine estate, and it is the part now goes under the name Chateau Doisy-Védrine. The second part is called Chateau Doisy-Dubroca, and the third Chateau Doisy-Daëne.

Chateau Doisy-Daëne is now during a time in a bad situation. Depending on poor management, the property has now a deterioration of quality. It was not until Georges Dubourdieu buys the property 1924, the situation improved. The family Dubourdieu has now been the owner of the Chateau Doisy-Daëne in more than 80 years. It was Georges and his son Pierre and today the grandson Denis, which manages the Chateau Doisy-Daëne during these 80 years.

Chateau Doisy-Daëne has a vineyard of 16.3 ha, which lies between the Château Coutet and Château Climens, in Barsac. The soil is a mixture of red sand and clay, over bedrock of limestone. The vine was renewed in 1950 and 1960 and planted with a density of 7000 trees / ha, broken down by 87% Semillon, Sauvignon 12% and 1% Muscadelle.

After harvest, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aging in new oak
barrels. The castle is also a super-cuvée in the best years, which is sold under the name L'extravagant de Doisy-Daëne.
