This wine has become so famous, that it is one of the hundred most legendary wines in the world according to Sylvíe Gírard-Lagorce, in his book "100 legendary wines". Sylvíe Gírard-Lagorce describes Château Gilette as a wine giant "The precious stone of wine who the wine lovers love to taste." |
It was René Médevile which began with Château Gilette long-term storage. The wine is stored in the tank about 18 years, then in bottles and stored a further three to five years, before it left for sale.

The vineyard is small, only 4.5 hectares, which is planted with 85% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon and 5% Muscadelle. The wine is fermented in the tank, after which it is stored in the tank, and will therefore get no contact with oak. This makes the wine from Château Gilette unique.
